L’Union africaine a annulé in extremis sa mission prévue lundi 21 janvier en République démocratique du Congo (RDC), après la proclamation par la Cour constitutionnelle congolaise de la victoire de l’opposant Félix Tshisekedi à la présidentielle.

« Tout ce que je peux confirmer à cet instant, c’est que le voyage a été reporté. Nous publierons un communiqué rapidement », a déclaré Ebba Kalondo, porte-parole auprès du président de la Commission de l’UA, le Tchadien Moussa Faki. La délégation devait être menée par le président en exercice de l’UA, le chef de l’État rwandais Paul Kagame, et par M. Faki. Des membres de l’UA avaient souhaité jeudi à Addis Abeba la « suspension » de la proclamation des résultats définitifs, jugeant ceux de la Commission électorale congolaise (Céni) en faveur de M. Tshisekedi entachés de « doutes sérieux ».

Mais la Cour constitutionnelle a passé outre ces injonctions pour rejeter, dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche, le recours de l’opposant Martin Fayulu et proclamer M. Tshisekedi président.
