Anthony Joshua remettra les ceintures des championnats du monde au président Buhari

Le champion du monde des poids lourds de boxe Anthony Joshua présentera bientôt ses ceintures au président Buhari, a révélé un assistant présidentiel mercredi à Abuja.

Laolu Akande, l'adjointe spéciale principale (ASS) du président des Médias et de la publicité, bureau du vice-président, a fait la divulgation lors d'une réunion d'information avec les correspondants de la State House au nom du ministre des Sports, Sunday Dare.

Le briefing a eu lieu après la réunion du Conseil exécutif fédéral (FEC) présidée par le vice-président Yemi Osinbajo le mercredi 11 décembre à Abuja. Akande a toutefois déclaré que la date de présentation des ceintures n'était pas encore fixée.

«Le ministre des Sports a annoncé qu'Anthony Joshua présenterait ses ceintures au président dans quelques jours.

«Les membres du Conseil se sont également félicités du don de livres du vice-président, qui est devenu une tradition annuelle», a-t-il déclaré.

Joshua a récemment battu le boxeur américano-mexicain, Andy Ruiz Jr., par une décision unanime de points en Arabie saoudite dimanche. Cette victoire l'a aidé à récupérer les ceintures de champion du monde poids lourds IBF, WBO, WBA et IBO qu'il a perdues contre Ruiz Jr. en juin.

World boxing heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will soon present his belts to President Buhari, a presidential aide disclosed on Wednesday in Abuja.

Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, made the disclosure while briefing State House correspondents on behalf of the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare.

The briefing took place after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday, December 11th in Abuja. Akande, however, said the date for the presentation of the belts was yet to be fixed.

“The Minister of Sports announced that Anthony Joshua will be presenting his belts to the President in a matter of days.

“The Council members also expressed appreciation for the gift of books from the Vice President which has become an annual tradition,’’ he said.

Joshua recently defeated Mexican-American boxer, Andy Ruiz Jr., through a unanimous points decision in Saudi Arabia on Sunday. The victory helped him to reclaim the IBF, WBO, WBA and IBO heavyweight world championship belts he lost to Ruiz Jr. in June
