Situation au Soudan : le Pape François appelle au dialogue

Le Pape François préoccupé par la situation politique au Soudan. Le souverain pontife a appelé dimanche 9 juin au dialogue afin de cimenter la paix et l’unité nationale.

L’appel a été lancé après la célébration de Pentecôte. Dans une messe dite au Vatican, le Saint-Père a récité la « Regina Cœli », une prière dédiée à la « Vierge » Marie, mère de Jésus-Christ.

Pour le Pape, c’est la prière tout indiquée pour confier au Très-Haut la situation en cours au Soudan. « Les nouvelles en provenance du Soudan suscitent douleur et inquiétude », a déclaré le chef mondial de l‘Église catholique dans son prêche.

Une inquiétude dictée par la réalité sur le terrain. Selon des médecins proches de l’opposition et des sources indépendantes, 113 personnes ont été tuées cette semaine par les forces de l’ordre pour disperser un sit-in initié devant le quartier général de l’armée par l’Alliance pour la liberté et le changement (ALC), fer de lance de la contestation.

Le gouvernement militaire qui a succédé à Omar el-Béchir fait état de 61 morts, dont trois membres des services de sécurité. Une flambée de violence condamnée par la communauté internationale. L’Union africaine (UA) est même allée jusqu‘à suspendre le pays.

« Que la violence cesse »

Pour le Pape François, il est temps pour les protagonistes d’engager un dialogue pour préserver la paix et l’unité nationale. « Nous prions pour ces personnes afin que la violence cesse et que le bien commun soit recherché dans le dialogue », a indiqué l’ancien archevêque de Buenos Aires.

Mais, le dialogue est loin de se tenir, car l’armée ne semble pas prête à quitter le pouvoir tel que le lui demande la contestation. Et l’ALC entame dès ce dimanche une campagne de « désobéissance civile ». Des moyens « pacifiques pour arracher notre droit à la vie », selon un responsable de l’ONG.

Les Soudanais sont dans la rue depuis le 19 décembre dernier. Débutées à Atbara au nord-est du pays, les manifestations dénonçaient l’augmentation du prix du pain. Elles se sont étendues dans tout le pays et ont eu raison en avril dernier du régime d’Omar el-Bechir après un règne de près de 30 ans.
