RDC: Francine Muyumba devient la première jeune sénatrice du pays

L’histoire de la jeune Francine Muyumba a bouleversé toute la classe politique congolaise notamment la gente féminine. Élue dans le Haut-Katanga à l’issue des Sénatoriales du jeudi 14 mars, Francine Muyumba, qui était jusque-là présidente de l’Union panafricaine de la jeunesse (UPJ), devient, à 32 ans, la plus jeune sénatrice pour siéger au Sénat de la RDC.

Dans une déclaration devant ses partisans, la jeune élue se dit prête à défendre les citoyens de sa province au Sénat.« C’est avec humilité et fierté que je vais désormais représenter les citoyens du Haut-Katanga au Sénat. Mon mandat sera à l’image de la jeunesse congolaise : engagé, audacieux et résolument tourné vers l’avenir. […] La confiance que les citoyens du Haut-Katanga m’ont témoignée à travers les députés provinciaux me réjouit, je tacherai de la préserver », a déclaré Francine Muyumba.

Native de Bukavu, une ville du sud-est de la RDC et diplômée en Arts de l’Université de Namibie, Francine Muyumba était la présidente de l’Union panafricaine de la jeunesse (UPJ), une instance reconnue en 2009 par le Conseil exécutif de l’Union africaine (UA) comme l’organisme régional en charge de la coordination des organisations des jeunes. 

A ce titre, son influence au sein de la jeunesse africaine s’est particulièrement accentuée ces dernières années.« Cette élection au sein de mon pays marque un tournant décisif dans mon engagement public » a laissé entendre Francine Muyumba avant de rappeler son parcours au service de la jeunesse.

« Après près d’une décennie au service de la jeunesse au niveau continental, j’ai souhaité mettre cette expérience acquise au service de la nation congolaise », a-t-elle confié. Elle est désormais représentante des populations du Haut-Katanga, une province clé en RDC.

A native of Bukavu, a town in southeastern DRC and a graduate of Arts from the University of Namibia, Francine Muyumba was president of the Pan African Youth Union (UPJ), a body recognized in 2009 by the Executive Council. of the African Union (AU) as the regional body in charge of coordinating youth organizations.

As such, his influence among African youth has particularly increased in recent years. "This election in my country marks a decisive turning point in my public engagement," said Francine Muyumba before recalling her career in the service of the youth.

"After nearly a decade in the service of youth at the continental level, I wanted to put this experience at the service of the Congolese nation," she said. She is now representative of the populations of Haut-Katanga, a key province in the DRC.
