RDC : des heurts entre partisans de Fayulu et de Tshisekedi à Kinshasa

Des heurts ont brièvement éclaté lundi à Kinshasa entre des partisans de l’opposant Martin Fayulu et des conducteurs de motos-taxis qu’ils assimilent à des proches de l’autre opposant, Félix Tshisekedi, officiellement élu président de la République démocratique du Congo, a rapporté une équipe de l’AFP.

Environ 300 partisans de M. Fayulu, rassemblés en centre-ville où ils voulaient tenir une réunion publique, s’en sont pris à une poignée de conducteurs de motos-taxis. Les pro-Fayulu ont lancé des pierres à un groupe des motos-taxis, blessant gravement l’un d’entre eux à la tête, selon un journaliste de l’AFP.

La police est rapidement intervenue pour s’interposer et pour les disperser.  M. Fayulu, qui se proclame président élu, tente depuis lundi matin de rassembler ses troupes devant le siège de son parti et de ses alliés du Mouvement de libération du Congo (MLC).

Un journaliste d’Actualité.cd “a été brutalisé par les policiers” devant le siège du MLC, rapporte le site d’information congolais.“Plusieurs policiers l’ont pris à partie et son téléphone a été jeté. Il s’en sort avec une blessure à la main gauche”, ajoute le site. D’autres journalistes ont été brutalisés, cette fois-ci par les militants pro-Fayulu les accusant d‘être proches de Félix Tshisekedi, selon la même source.

L’entourage de M. Fayulu avait indiqué qu‘à défaut de meeting, l’opposant allait tenir une conférence de presse.  La situation étaient plutôt normale dans le reste de la ville et même dans le quartier où les heurts ont eu lieu.

L‘élection de M. Tshisekedi a été validée par la Cour constitutionnelle dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche. Elle est contestée par Martin Fayulu, qui se déclaré vainqueur de l‘élection à un tour avec 60% des voix, et accuse M. Tshisekedi d‘être complice d’un “putsch électoral” orchestré par le président sortant Joseph Kabila.

M. Tshisekedi doit succèder au président Joseph Kabila, au pouvoir depuis 18 ans, à l’issue de la présidentielle du 30 décembre.

Son investiture pourrait intervenir jeudi, selon des sources concordantes.

Clashes briefly broke out Monday in Kinshasa between supporters of opponent Martin Fayulu and drivers of motorcycle taxis they liken to relatives of the other opponent, Felix Tshisekedi, officially elected President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, reported an AFP team.

About 300 Fayulu supporters, gathered in the city center where they wanted to hold a public meeting, attacked a handful of motorcycle taxi drivers. The pro-Fayulu threw stones at a group of motorcycle taxis, seriously injuring one of them to the head, according to an AFP journalist.
 
The police quickly intervened to intervene and disperse them. Mr. Fayulu, who proclaims himself elected president, has been trying since Monday morning to gather his troops in front of the headquarters of his party and allies of the Mouvement de liberation du Congo (MLC).

A Newsité.cd journalist was "brutalized by the police" in front of the MLC headquarters, the Congolese news website reported. "Several policemen took him to task and his phone was thrown away. Other journalists were brutalized, this time by pro-Fayulu activists accusing them of being close to Felix Tshisekedi, according to the same source.

Mr Fayulu's entourage had indicated that, in the absence of a meeting, the opponent would hold a press conference. The situation was rather normal in the rest of the city and even in the neighborhood where the clashes took place.

The election of Mr. Tshisekedi was validated by the Constitutional Court on the night of Saturday to Sunday. It is contested by Martin Fayulu, who declared himself the winner of the one-round election with 60% of the vote, and accuses Tshisekedi of being complicit in an "electoral coup" orchestrated by incumbent President Joseph Kabila.

Tshisekedi will succeed President Joseph Kabila, who has been in power for 18 years, following the presidential election on December 30.

His investiture could intervene on Thursday, according to concordant sources.
