CAN 2019 : le Congo se porte candidat pour l'organisation

Et si un pays de la région Afrique centrale succédait au Cameroun pour l’organisation de la Coupe d’Afrique des nations de football l’année prochaine ? La République du Congo est sur les rangs.

Sa candidature pour abriter la 32è édition de la CAN en 2019 prévue du 15 juin au 13 juillet a été dévoilée ce vendredi par Constant Omari, vice-président de la Confédération africaine de football (CAF).

Le Congo est ainsi le premier pays à faire acte de candidature pour succéder au Cameroun auquel la CAF a récemment retiré l’organisation de l‘événement. La République du Congo a organisé en 2015, les Jeux africains et entend ainsi mettre à profit les infrastructures héritées de cette fête sportive africaine. Parmi ces ouvrages, le stade de Nkitelé (nord de Brazzaville) qui dispose de plus de 60 000 places.

Brazzaville abrite en ce moment même, la Coupe d’Afrique des nations de handball.

La date limite de dépôt de candidatures est fixée au 14 décembre. Le Maroc et l’Afrique du Sud ne se sont pas encore officiellement prononcés, mais, sont cités comme potentiels candidats.
