Africa 2020: Angélique Kidjo, marraine du plus grand événement dédié à l’Afrique

La chanteuse béninoise Angélique Kidjo, 58 ans, a été nommée marraine d’Africa 2020, un méga événement dédié à l’Afrique en 2019.

La France a décidé d’honorer le Bénin à travers sa méga star Angélique Kidjo, nommée marraine d’un grand événement pluridisciplinaire dénommé Africa 2020. « C’est un défi énorme pour l’Etat français et pour  le président  Macron qui  en a eu l’idée »,affirmé Angélique Kidjo. 

Cet événement qui sera organisé sur toute l’étendue du territoire français pendant toute une année permettra aux français de connaître en profondeur le continent africain. « On va  donc  se présenter  nous-mêmes » fait elle savoir  avant de souligner qu’elle attend pour l’heure, de voir en quoi pourrait consister sa participation artistique à  ce projet qu’elle voudrait bien voir développé hors de la France.

Devenue en 2002 ambassadrice de bonne volonté de l’Unicef, elle sillonne le continent et fonde quatre ans plus tard, sa propre association, Batonga. Depuis, c’est plus de 1 500 lycéennes et étudiantes qui sont prises en charge de Dakar à Addis-Abeba en passant par Cotonou.
