Sept ténors de l’opposition congolaises comptent désigner un candidat commun à la présidentielle de décembre lors d’une réunion prévue à partir de jeudi à Genève malgré des dissensions qui les minent à moins de deux mois d’élections sous tension en République démocratique du Congo, ont déclaré aujourd’hui des responsables, a rapporté Romandie.
La délocalisation du lieu de la rencontre, sans doute dictée par le revirement de la Belgique sur le dossier rd congolais, qui consiste désormais à ne pas verser de l’huile sur le feu, ne change rien ou presque pas aux données du problème.

« Jusqu’à nouvel ordre, tous les ténors de l’opposition se retrouveront en Suisse en vue de prendre part à la réunion de désignation du candidat commun de l’opposition à la présidentielle » du 23 décembre, a déclaré à l’AFP Freddy Matungulu, un des quatre candidats de l’opposition en lice à cette élection.

Le 26 octobre en Afrique du Sud, les sept ténors de l’opposition avaient promis de désigner un candidat commun au plus tard le 15 novembre pour le scrutin qui doit permettre d’élire le successeur du président Joseph Kabila, au pouvoir depuis 18 ans.

« Les attentes sont fortes auprès de la population. Comme groupe, nous ne pourrons prétendre à la victoire à la présidentielle qu’en étant ensemble », a ajouté M. Matungulu.

« La réunion prévue en Suisse pourra prendre trois jours », a dit à l’AFP Me Peter Kazadi, directeur de cabinet adjoint d’un des candidats de l’opposition à la présidentielle Félix Tshisekedi, président du parti historique d’opposition (UDPS). « Le président Tshisekedi sera présent ».

L’ancien président de l’Assemblée nationale passé à l’opposition, Vital Kamerhe, candidat retenu à la présidentielle, « fera le déplacement de Genève pour la désignation du candidat commun », a déclaré Giscard Kusema, son conseiller en communication. Cette réunion est programmée sur fond de divergences autour de l’utilisation de machines à voter qui doivent permettre aux électeurs de choisir leur candidat et d’imprimer leur bulletin dans les bureaux de vote.

Le 26 octobre, une partie de l’opposition avait marché dans les rues de plusieurs villes de RDC pour exiger l’abandon de l’utilisation des machines à voter qu’elle accuse d’être des « machines à tricher ». L’UDPS a toutefois promis de participer aux élections « avec ou sans machines à voter », selon son secrétaire général Jean-Marc Kabund.

Deux fois reportées depuis 2016, les élections de décembre doivent permettre de choisir le prochain président de la RDC et les parlementaires au niveau national et provincial. L’ex-ministre de l’Intérieur, Emmanuel Ramazani Shadary, a été désigné candidat de la majorité par le président Kabila à qui la Constitution interdit de se représenter.
