John Cena pourrait être remplacé par Bobby Lashley pour le match de la Coupe du Monde de la WWE à Crown Jewel cette semaine.

Cena, 16 fois champion de la WWE, devait participer au tournoi à huit qui "déterminera le meilleur du monde".

Il devait affronter le champion intercontinental Seth Rollins, Kurt Angle, Dolph Ziggler, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton et Jeff Hardy le 2 novembre à Riyad.

Mais en raison de la controverse entourant le royaume du Moyen-Orient à propos du meurtre du journaliste américain Jamal Khashoggi, il est entendu que Cena ne sera pas en concurrence.

La superstar de Raw est revenue à la WWE en avril et a récemment été jumelée à la superstar de Live 205, Lio Rush, qui agit en tant que nouveau manager.

Selon WrestleVotes, source en ligne de la WWE, Lashley, le "dominateur", pourrait prendre la place de Cena alors qu'il prétendait avoir une blessure.

La championne féminine de la WWE Raw, Ronda Rousey, a soutenu la décision de la WWE de procéder au paiement à la séance de Jewel Crown en Arabie saoudite.

Dans un message apparent à Cena, l'ancienne star de l'UFC, Rousey, a expliqué l'impact positif que l'événement pouvait avoir, selon elle.

Crown Jewel a fait l'objet d'une controverse après le décès du journaliste du Washington Post, Jamal Khashoggi, au consulat d'Arabie saoudite à Istanbul.

Cena et Lashley ont fait équipe au WWE Super Show-Down plus tôt ce mois-ci quand ils ont vaincu Kevin Owens et Elias à Melbourne.

Mais si Cena ne participait pas ce vendredi en Arabie Saoudite, ce serait un coup dur pour la WWE.

He was due to challenge Intercontinental champion Seth Rollins, Kurt Angle, Dolph Ziggler, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy on November 2 in Riyadh.

But due to the controversy surround the Middle East kingdom over the murder of US-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi, it is understood Cena will not be competing.

Cena, 41, has forged a successful career of late in Hollywood and reports suggest he is not willing to damage his reputation.

Should he not travel as expected, WWE chiefs will need to draft in a replacement. And that man could be Bobby Lashley.

The Raw superstar returned to WWE in April and has recently been paired with 205 Live superstar Lio Rush, who is acting as his new manager.

According to online WWE source WrestleVotes, the 'Dominator' Lashley could take Cena's place despite claims that he is currently working with an injury.

WWE Raw women's champion Ronda Rousey has backed the WWE's decision to go ahead with its Crown Jewel pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia.

In an apparent message to Cena, former UFC star Rousey explained the positive impact she believes the event can bring.

"I think that pulling out of the 'Crown Jewel' would be the wrong move because I think that this is an opportunity to be able to share our culture," she told TMZ.

"In times of adversity between two countries, it's the absolute wrong time to pull away. We can find what we have in common and be able to understand each other more.

Crown Jewel has been shrouded in controversy following the death of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Cena and Lashley did team up at WWE Super Show-Down earlier this month when they defeated Kevin Owens and Elias in Melbourne.

But if Cena does not compete this Friday in Saudi Arabia, it would be a huge blow for the WWE.
