Présidentielle au Cameroun : le tapis rouge déroulé pour le vote de Paul Biya

École publique de Bastos, quartier chic de Yaoundé, la capitale politique du Cameroun. Annoncé pour 10h, Paul Biya, le chef de l’Etat sortant et candidat à sa propre succession arrive enfin, après plus d’une heure pour effectuer son vote. Il n’est pas seul. Il s’est fait accompagner de son épouse Chantal.

Tout le protocole y est aussi. Tapis rouge, garde présidentielle, bouquets de fleurs et autres décorations ont été pensés pour accueillir l’actuel locataire d’Etoudi. D’ailleurs, pour son arrivée dans ce bureau de vote, presque tout a été refait : peinture des bâtiments, curage des caniveaux…

À l’intérieur du bureau de vote, le protocole est également garanti. Un comité d’accueil qui a pris le soin de rester debout jusqu‘à la fin du vote de Paul Biya et de son épouse.

Dans cette présidentielle, le président camerounais qui brigue un septième mandat consécutif après 35 ans au pouvoir, affronte sept candidats. Ces derniers ont pour la plupart déjà effectué leur devoir civique. Sans le tapis rouge. Avant, faut-il peut-être qu’ils conquièrent le mythique palais d’Etoudi.
