Le fils de Jacob Zuma jugé pour homicide involontaire

Duduzane Zuma, fils de l’ancien président sud-africain Jacob Zuma, sera jugé à partir du mois de mars pour homicide involontaire, après la mort de deux personnes dans un accident de voiture.

Vêtu d’un costume sombre, le jeune homme de 34 ans a brièvement comparu devant un tribunal de Johannesburg ce vendredi, accompagné de son père et encadré par des gardes du corps.

Duduzane Zuma est accusé d’avoir causé la mort en 2014 à Johannesburg de deux passagers d’un minibus, qu’il a percuté alors qu’il était au volant de sa Porsche.

Devant le tribunal, des partisans pro et anti-Zuma ont organisé des manifestations sous le regard de la police.

Le bureau du procureur avait initialement décidé de ne pas poursuivre Duduzane Zuma, avant de finalement revoir sa position, cédant sous la pression de l’organisation AfriForum.

Wearing a dark suit, the 34-year-old briefly appeared in Johannesburg court on Friday, accompanied by his father and supervised by bodyguards.

Duduzane Zuma is accused of causing two passengers in a minibus in Johannesburg in 2014 to die while driving his Porsche.

In court, pro and anti-Zuma supporters staged demonstrations under the watchful eye of the police.

The prosecutor's office had initially decided not to prosecute Duduzane Zuma, before finally reviewing his position, yielding under pressure from the AfriForum organization.
